The Anatomy of Teddy Bears
So you’re sitting back and you’re thinking about teddy bears. Not only about what they symbolize, which is warmth, love, and comfort, but everything else that’s reminiscent of childhood and how special of a time that is. But what does each part of teddy bears mean? Why are they so special? Here’s a little missive about the importance of what a teddy bear looks like:
Fur
Fur is the softest, most comforting part of a bear. The fur of a teddy bear is what makes you want to cuddle up with it. It’s soft or silky, reassuring and either warms you up or cools you down, depending on the weather and how hot or cold that it is. The point? The fur is like our skin—it protect us. Except, unlike skin, it doesn’t protect the individual teddy bears, but the people that the teddy bear protects.
Eyes
The eyes are happiest part of a bear. They’re small, shiny, and full of life and warmth. A teddy bear’s warmth not only helps you to feel comforted, but gives you that little bit of extra happiness that you need, especially when you’re feeling down. A teddy bear’s eyes can help to make you feel better simply because they’re created that way.
Paws
The paws of a teddy bear are perfect for dancing. It doesn’t matter what you plan on doing with your teddy bear friend—as long as you have one of his paws, you can take him anywhere that you both need and want to go. With paws, you can swing your teddy bear friend, hug your teddy bear friend, and most of all, travel with him.
Ears
The ears of a teddy bear are perfect for snuggling or (for teething babies) chewing. They’re soft, attached to the bear’s head, and perfect for whispered conversations with your little friend.
So you’re probably wondering—why does the anatomy of teddy bears matter? Well, it’s what helps to remind you of how special they are. It doesn’t matter if your teddy bears have clothes or not, if they’re big or not. Either way, they’re super special and super likely to please whomever you present them to.
Take your time to create whatever kind of teddy bears that you need for your special people. Let’s face it—most of the time, we end up just kind of throwing something together.
Think about whom you are making the teddy bears for. What do they need specifically in teddy bears? What can you do in order to make sure that they have what they need out of their teddy bear?
It’s fun to create teddy bears for those who are special to you. Make sure to also keep in mind their favorite color, specific colors and patterns that they like and anything else that you can think of.
There are loads of different types of bears that you can create—take your time, put a lot of love into it and the resulting gift will be perfect for whomever you make it for!

Anyone else hate suctioning out baby’s nose?
My poor 13 month old has a cold and is teething. I just had to suction out his nose and it always breaks me heart. He fights me and screams and wails. He cries for a few minutes after I’m done also. I feel so bad for the little guy. He cried and when I finished he grabbed his stuffed bear and hugged it tight and then laid his head in my lap and pitifully cried for another minute.I hate upsetting him like that and I hate having to fight with him to do it but he was having such a hard time breathing. Anyone else hate having to suction out the nose?
wow…how ironic that my one year old also has a cold.
i’ve put a humidifier in his room and since he’s asthmatic i also have to use a nebulizer and put a mask on him for that. so he fights that. i have to hold him down for five minutes for the nebulizer treatment, his back to my chest and his arms locked at his sides. and then i have to put saline drops in his nose and suck it out, and suck out his throat.
i cry with him usually, it’s horrible.
but i have the situation where if i dont do it he can die. i’d prefer fighting him to do his treatments then to put him six feet under.
thankfully you dont have to worry about that, but you still hurt. but just think of it this way. he may not understand your helping him, but you are. when your done give him a lot of cuddling and kisses, and read a favorite book with him or give him a nice warm bath…something yummy to drink (favorite juice?). Play with him. He’ll forget about it until the next go round, but in the long run, he’ll appreciate it without even realizing it. it’s just preparation for the teenage years.
