Finding Comfortable Princess Costumes
Little girls love to twirl in dress up costumes and dance through the kitchen, not fidget in uncomfortable dresses that leave scratches or rashes. One of the most important features in girls dress up costumes is the comfort factor; otherwise, what good are princess Disney costumes if your little girl won’t wear them? An itchy Cinderella princess dress is likely to be left in the closet with an awkward fitting Snow White princess dress. There are a few things you can look for on the tags when shopping for girls dress up costumes. So before purchasing another princess Disney costume, consider this:
First, look at the brand. Yes, we have to check the label. Is it a brand that has a reputation for being comfortable? Companies like Little Adventures have a steady following with customers who love their comfort factor. If you’re not sure of the brand, ask around or search online for reviews. Some companies, like Little Adventures, lists testimonials and awards on their company website. Also, check the brand’s mission statement or focus. While you’re looking at the label, make sure that this Cinderella princess dress is machine washable. No matter how much those dry-clean only Snow White princess dresses look like they’ll be worth it, they’re not. No little girl wants to play in a dirty princess Disney costume and the frequent need for washing will make a dry-clean only costume an unnecessary expense and hassle.
Next, look over the dress. Does it have any added comfort features? One of the nicest added features are dresses that are silk-lined, which makes them the ultimate in comfort. If the girls dress up costumes are not silk-lined, make sure there are no itchy underskirts or inner fabrics that will irritate the skin.
Are the seams finished? Unfinished seams and hems, especially on delicate dress fabrics, will make princess Disney costumes “itchy.” Many dress up companies, like Little Adventures, will list if they ensure that all seams and hems are finished, so you can have the quality assurance without having to check every seam of the dress.
You’ll also want to think about how the dress is put on. Girls dress up costumes have come a long way in recent years, and many costumes are easy enough now that young girls can pull their Cinderella princess dress on and off all by themselves. They key is in a stretchy bodice. Wider necks in dresses, like some Snow White costumes, also enable small fingers the satisfaction of dressing themselves. Compare these with the ones listed on the sizing charts for the princess Disney costumes. You’ll want something with a little room to grow in, so that the dress stays comfortable for a while. Just make sure not to order something so big that she steps on it as she walks!
Every little princess deserves to be comfortable, that way her mind can be focused on the imaginative aspects of her dress and her play, not the uncomfortable fit of her costume.
