How To Make Bjd Wigs
BJDs, or ball-jointed dolls, are realistic-looking dolls that originated from Japan. They’re highly customizable; ball-jointed doll owners pick the doll’s clothes, eyes and wig. A creative BJD owner–or an individual that wouldn’t pay the expensive price that accompanies this popular doll–might need to make her very own wig.
Making Wefts. Wefts can be the strands of hair linked to the wig. Begin by placing many of the hair fiber flat with one end aligned. Should you have trouble received it straight, put a weight across the fiber and cut off the ends of the hair. Tape the straight edge of the head of hair fiber to a work surface. Squeeze a distinctive line of caulk straight along the hair fibers in conjunction with the edge of the masking tape. Wet your finger and smooth out the caulk. When the caulk has dried, pull the masking tape off of your working surface–but not away from the hair fibers–and flip the hair over. Let the caulk dry, and cut-off the masking tape over the line of caulk.Repeat these steps several times til you have the required quantity of wefts to connect to wig cap. Assembling the Wig Hair is connected to the wig cap either with a whip stitch or by gluing it down. Using either method, attach a hair weft to the base of the wig cap, starting at the nape of the neck. The weft is required to be facing up with the hair hanging below it. Do this until you have made a circle all the way around. Attach another hair weft about one-quarter of an inch higher than the previous weft. Repeat this until you’re one-half of an inch away from the spot where you want the part to be. Attach the last wefts facing the opposite direction so that your wefts are going down and the hair folds over them. Attach the last wefts in a straight line next to the other to establish a part. Unless you want your wig to have a part, attach the final weft in a tight spiral towards the top of the wig.Rinse the wig under cold water and let it dry. Save your doll using sunshine and extreme temperatures. Handle your doll with kid gloves¡literally. Well, maybe not kid gloves but keep a pair of white cotton gloves handy and when dressing or having fun with your doll, use them. You would be surprised simply how much cleaner your doll stays if you handle it with gloves. In case you doll does get marks on it or gets dirty from handling, you can clean it up with a Mr. Clean Super Sponge. Just dampen the sponge and gently clean. Only be cautious all around the face paint as you can remove an eyebrow or cheek color if you don’t give thought to your work. When dressing your doll, place a small plastic bag over the hands to guard the delicate fingers from snagging on a tight sleeve. Be carefully about leaving your doll wearing dark colors or anything red..these colors can sometimes fade and stain the resin. A Mr. Clean Super Sponge will often, however not always, remove this.
Try a wig cap. A wig cap not merely helps keep the wig in position but it also protects the pinnacle from staining from dark colored wigs. Make use of a doll stand unless the doll is sitting. Even dolls that balance beautifully alone can tip over and go away a shelf. Sturdy and attractive BJD stands are hard to uncover but a plain old metal Kaiser stand is better than nothing.
